Trunk or Treat/ Pumpkin Carving

I joined a Mom's group over the summer and it was a great decision, if I do say so myself! I've been to a handful of meetups and it really is a great group of moms and kids. Trunk or Treat was a must attend! Everyone brought bowls of goodies, be it candy, toys, snacks and the kids got to go around and collect their loot. Then, when everyone was done, we had a potluck style lunch and there was some really great food! Because it was held at a park the kids spent the rest of the time running off their candy and making friends!

We waited unitl the last moment to carve our pumpkin. Coen loves scooping out the insides!

The Shaws

A long time ago, in a land far far away... oh, wait...just a long time ago.

A long time ago, when my mom first started homeschooling me and my sisters, we met the McGaughs. Emily, who was a little bit older than me, Erin, who was Julie's age, and their new baby brother, Matthew. "Thewy" they called him. Our moms became instant friends and all of us kids hit it off great! We spent countless hours playing with the girls. Birthdays, PuttPutt Golf, movies and the slumber parties? OH the slumber parties!!

Like most friendships, things faded after a few years. My family moved to a new town and Emily and Erin began attending private school. It was harder and harder to keep in touch. Occasionally we would run into each other at the mall, then Emily got married and Daniel and I (newly engaged) attended the wedding.

About five years ago Daniel and I started going to a new church. We joined up after sever months of scoping the place out and then who should turn up? Emily (McGaugh) Shaw. Emily Shaw with a baby on her hip and plans for a second! Goodness how time had flown by! It took us a while to get around to really re-connecting, but boy have we! Our boys play so well together and our husbands have so much in common! It's so nice to have my old friend back!!

This past week Emily treated the boys and I to a trip to the museum . A place we went together as kids! Such fun!!

Big Dino! It's kind of a running joke between Em and I. When Jurassic Park showed in the theaters my parents took us all to see it. Scared us all half to death. Her oldest son is obsessed with dinosaurs! Coen doesn't really know what to think.
After two boys, Emily was blessed  with a baby girl! What a beauty!
Coen has been all about the trains lately, so he spent almost ALL of his time at this station.

HARDHAT!!
Of course the water station was a huge hit! Especially on a hot day.

Shaw girls!

Together again!! Yay!!

The Baskervilles

My friend Nicole is in Texas!! Military wife life is rough. I don't speak from experience, but I'm watching Nicole's life and thinking....yeah, I couldn't do that. Thank God for families like hers!! Anywho, she's visiting for an extended period of time and we've gotten to hang once or twice, let our kids meet, have fun! Recently we all went to the park for a picnic and some play time. Afterward....sno-cones!!

Splash Park

This Thursday Coen and I met my friend Tracy and her two kiddos at Love Street Park in Weatherford. It's a fairly new park which means it's also really cool. This park has a splash area! Coen is finally big enough to go and so we were super excited! All of the kids had so much fun! This is the stuff great nap times are made of!

Fort Worth Museum of Science and History

Ok, so when I was a kiddo the FWMS&H (that's a lot easier to type) was the place to go for field trips. It was so awesome and I'll never, ever forget my first time at the Omni Theatre. They added a dino dig for the kiddos and everyone took their children to dig in the dirt. Then, when I got older, it was a popular place to hit while on a date. Then....it underwent construction. After it's transformation everyone talked about how cool it was, and that they added the great play place for little kids.

Until Kristy  and Andrew took me and Coen on Friday I could not have fully understood how cool it had become! It had been roughly seven years since I had been in the building.

Coen had so. much. FUN! Both he and Andrew were running around so much they were sweating! Here's a few pics of the outing:

I'm seriously considering getting a pass. It's worth it to let Coen run around (inside) for hours!

Lately...

::sigh::...Well, there has been a LOT going on recently and I just haven't found the time to sit down and write about any of it!
We had a "Lost Series Finale" party! Please note my Dharma Initiative Cream Soda and polar bear. Both of which are apparently meaningless to the plot of the show. We had a lot of fun though. I made P-Dub's "Firecracker Shrimp" because I already had all of the ingredients. Holy moley were they scrumptious! Definitely bringing these to my parent's house on July 4th. You should too!

Memorial Day weekend was great! Daniel got a new schedule which means he doesn't have to go into work on Saturdays anymore!!! So on Saturday we spent the day together and drove to the Cheesecake Factory. Daniel had gift cards and so the meal was F.R.E.E.! My favorite kind! ;)

My friend Nicole and her hubby Damian and daughter Natalia came up from Mississippi, so we spent Sunday morning at her parents lake house in Granbury. Wow, we had a blast. Natalia is getting so big and Coen just loved watching her! We got in the water and had a blast. Can;t wait till they come back!! I forgot to take pictures while we were there!! Argghh!   Later that night Daniel and I went on a date! We saw Shrek (which was hilarious!) and got Root Beer floats. :) Coen hung out with the fam while we were gone.

Then Monday happened. I found a scorpion in the nursery on Sun night and another one in the living room on Monday. The gloves came off! I left Monday night to load up on supplies and I've spent the last few days caulking, setting traps and spraying poison all over my house. So long suckas!

We've also spent considerable time running through various sprinklers,

helping with the laundry,
playing with belts and hangers,
 and being cute.

Not to mention trying on bridesmaid dresses, meeting up with old friends, gardening, celebrating birthdays, shopping for said birthdays, reading new books, trying new recipes and cleaning out closets.

So, there you have it! Our lives lately! Oh, and I spent quite some time labeling all of my posts for your convenience. Use them responsibly. You're welcome. :)

Donny's Birthday

So much has happened that I haven't had a chance to post our pictures from Donny's birthday party! Daniel best friend turned 31 this year and decided to celebrate with a big party at Risky's BBQ here in Fort Worth. Daniel and I were so excited to attend because Donnie and Jennifer live in Corinth and we rarely get to see them. Since it was at Risky's BBQ we has to dress the part. Jeans and boots all the way!! Dan wears his regularly but I only wear mine in the winter and Coen had outgrown his! After a quick stop at Cavenders to buy Coen a fitting pair we were off! Needless to say we had a lot of fun. There was Karaoke, which Daniel took part in one too many times ;), and plenty of food. And OHMYGOSH if you've never had them you must get the Texas fries! Woah woah woah. They were out when we arrived and once I had some I knew my life at changed forever. Soooo yummy. Thanks, Youngbloods, for a wonderful night!
