Five a Day

No this is not a blog about healthy eating. Five fruits a day maybe, five vegetables a day?!? Maybe five a week. I know! I know it's bad! I'm working on it!

Instead I like to have five of something else a day.

No, not pieces of chocolate.

OK, well... yes... pieces of chocolate...but something else too.

As most of you know I spent most of adult life teaching preschoolers. When I became a Preschool coordinator, and was pushing a curriculum program based on weekly themes, it was my great pleasure to drive into Fort Worth to their big, shiny public library and rent as many books that correlated with our themes as possible. Consequently, I discovered a lot of great books/authors for young kids.
I was stocking Coen's nursery with good books before he was born and the addiction hasn't died down yet. Of course we read all of these books. It's one of my favorite things to do, actually. We try to read at least five books a day! It's a wonderful break. When Coen is following me around the house, holding onto my pants leg and whining for no apparent reason I can usually scoop him up and read him a quick book. He's pacified and it calms my nerves as well. Something about snuggling with with a baby in a little velor jumper...

We have books conveniently stashed all over the house so I don't have to bother with searching for one. Oh, and I try to never buy a book full price. Half priced books is a definite fav. but I've also found great books at Ross, TJMaxx, and Marshalls.
